It seems the hygiene issues are having the better of the tattoo industry. This time the bad news that awaits the tattoo enthusiasts is that the medical world has considered them unfit for donating blood. There goes one philanthropic venture begging! Despite the fact that the dermatologists do prescribe a whole range of dos and don’ts associated with tattooing, it has not prevented the experts to finally declare that tattooing still does not satisfy the required hygiene standards.
An inked body had always been considered suspicious for blood donation given the fact that there are high chances of the blood getting contaminated with various dangerous chemicals during inking. This suspicious attitude has found immense legitimacy in the number of hygiene issues that have been associated with tattoos. This declaration should be seen as a severe dent in the reputation of the hygiene standards of the tattoo industry as a whole.
The fact that most of the tattoo parlors do not provide adequate hygiene standards makes it very tough on the part of the medics to rely on the quality of blood of the such donors. There are not many parlors which use disinfectants, single-use tool disposable kit and autoclave bags for the sterilization process. The personal hygiene of most of the tattoo artists is under scanner. To put the icing on this ‘filthy’ cake, the awareness level of most of the clients regarding the hygiene issues is very deplorable. Most of them do not bother to even ask about the hygiene standards let alone checking it.
In such conditions, if a tattooed person has been debarred from the luxury of blood donation then this decision is definitely appreciable. Unless there is widespread awareness among the tattoo enthusiasts and the tattoo artists do not take some stringent steps to beef up the hygiene standards in their parlors, this decision of banning the tattooed lot from donating blood should remains upright and utterly justified.
Second that. Anyone thinking of genittg this style of ink make sure the artist has permission or remixes the designs so they don’t step on anyone toes. These patterns communicate very specific cultural meanings and it is not ok to apply them to yourself if you are not of this culture ( or have been granted permission.)
