Eric Catalano offered free small pink ribbon tattoos in support of people who were fighting cancer. “On Wednesday, more people came through here than live in town,” Eric said. “I had to go to the supplies store every day to stock up. They loved seeing me come.”
In this week, the lines went out the door most days and the studio was crowded on Thursday and “the last day Eric was doing the free tattoo promotion”. Most of the people saw the offer online, or through friends and saw advertisement.
Eric Catalano and three other tattoo artists at the studio support the fight against breast cancer who apply pink ribbon tattoo free. Normally the cost of the tattoo is $30.
Eric Catalano said that “I knew so many people suffered from cancer and there are not many ways we could support causes like this”. These tattoo artists had provided more than 300 tattoos through Wednesday and expected to go over 400 at the end of Thursday.
“The pink ribbon has become an international symbol of breast cancer awareness.”
Eric said: “Each tattoo takes about five minutes,” and “It takes a few minutes to set up and then sterilize everything afterwards.”
Kara Myers of Columbia was first customer at Thursday. She had inked pink ribbon tattoo design on the back of her neck. Myers said “it was for a very good friend of hers whose mother had passed away from cancer. Her mom got sick while we were going to college and driving together, I was kind of her support system.”
Eric Catalano said there were a handful of guys who got the tattoo but it mostly was women, including some who had never been tattooed before. “I heard a lot of sad stories but there were a lot of uplifting stories as well,”.
Tonya Cowan of East Carondelet said her best friend was dealing with breast cancer right now. “She’s right behind me in line,” Cowan said.
Faye Madison of Belleville “who said she was doing well in her battle against the disease.” It was her first tattoo and it was going on her ankle. She was nervous but made it through with confidence. “The biggest problem is how to tell my mother. She going to kill me,” Madison said. “
MEN with a mind for combating cancer came up with a novel way of raising money for Cancer Research UK – by getting tattoos. Chris Cave (22), Matthew Kirk (23) and Rob Iliffe (20), all from Harborough, have had pink ribbon tattoos inked on their skin. These three men, who have already raised £1,000 for the charity, got their tattoos from the All1Tribe Tattoo studio in Adam and Eve Street, Harborough. Mr Cave had a tattoo on his head, Mr Kirk chose his wrist and Mr Iliffe selected his ankle.
I think it would be pretty on your sudelohr on your back. Possibly between your sudelohr and your spine. For some reason, I think ankle tattoos look stupid (manly or something), but you still want people to see it, right? A sudelohr is a good place because you can see it in casual clothes but not necessarily in work clothes.
