The phoenix is a mythological firebird present in the folklore of several cultures, including those of the Egyptians, Arabians, Romans, Persians, Greeks, Chinese and Indians. It is strongly connected to the idea of rebirth, renewal, and immortality.
The phoenix has traditionally been said to live for 500 to 1,000 years. At the end of its life cycle, it builds a nest of twigs, which then catches fire. The nest and bird are engulfed in flames, eventually burning to ashes. But from these ashes, a new phoenix is born, and the cycle begins anew. Depending on the specific story, the phoenix may be the same bird or the offspring of the first.
The phoenix does not represent one soul thing. Nowadays Each part of the bird represents something different. For example the wings mean prosperity, the body mean kindness and the head would mean reliability. The flame images represent purification and transformation through fire and adversity.
According to Chinese mythology, the phoenix is the symbol of grace and virtue and is second only in importance to the Dragon.
